He knew when something was right, but he didn’t always tell you what he wanted when it wasn’t. And he was very clear when he didn’t like it. Some misinterpreted this behavior as being overly critical, but it was actually time-saving clarity, albeit uncomfortable on occasion.

I’ve realized I’m in an odd position where not having notifications has led to more distraction and lack of focus. Micro.blog only notifies for comments, which is perfect. But since it’s broken for me, I find myself opening the app to check the Mentions tab throughout the day and losing more time.
The Mac has been on Apple silicon for 10% of its lifetime already. 🤯

At this point, I had to take a good hard look in the mirror. The whole point was to use this device to relieve stress. Instead, all I’d done was overcomplicate a walking pad. I ended up anxious and dreading my imperfect, messy metrics. I was so concerned about doing something “the right way” that I ended up not doing it at all. Looking back, I’ll be the first person to tell you that’s absurd. And yet, I’ve also been part of enough running and fitness communities to know that this is a common trap that even the best of us fall into.

Winter is sneaking back into the Adirondacks! I had a wonderful time with Jason and Henry as we conquered Street & Nye Mountains today. The frost flowers were in full bloom, and we broke out the microspikes for the first time this season. Although they were capped with clouds when we started, both summits greeted us with crystal clear views of the snow crystals atop the rest of the high peaks. 8.1 miles and 2600 ft elevation gain. 🏔️ 📷
Does anyone out there publish to Micro.blog with Ulysses? Thinking about trying it out, but I’m curious about how things are kept in sync. Do posts published or edited elsewhere—like from the web, for example—reflect back in Ulysses? They do with @danielpunkass’s MarsEdit, but it’s not on iOS.

Sometimes I just have to get a blog post out of my head. Last night it was this one. It was late, and I was tired. Still, I was compelled to roll out of bed, grab my iPad, sit on the toilet seat lid, and let the words flow from my mind to yours through this letter to the world.
Instead of doomscrolling today, I went outside with the dog and sunk my anxious energy into splitting a whole bunch of wood, and started listening to Endurance (the Shackleton book). Then my wife and I went for a walk. Getting away from current events was good for the soul. 📷
Special Counsel Jack Smith is reportedly in talks with officials at the Department of Justice to “wind down” his two prosecutions of President-elect Donald Trump; one over January 6, and the other over his retention of classified documents from his first term.
At issue, per NBC, is the long-standing DOJ policy we became so familiar with in Donald Trump’s first term: that a sitting president cannot be prosecuted.
Our justice system simply cannot be allowed to move this slowly. Otherwise, what even is the point?
There are some days that this button really frustrates me, not being able to read back through all the posts I may have missed. Today is not one of those days.

Me, I’d get a domain name before anything else.
If you get the email address, another cute idea is to write them emails every once in a while, then when you give them the email address, the inbox will be filled with letters from you over the years.
I love the idea to write them little notes and letters before handing over the email address. How sweet. Oh, and just set up an email address with the domain you got them!
