Steep ice and smiles last night at Pitchoff Quarry for Thursday Night Ice Club! Thanks to everyone who came out and put in some laps. ⛏️

B-T-dubs, for anyone suffering through using a Squarespace site (🙋‍♂️) and growing ever-more frustrated by the limitations of its iPadOS app, adding it to the Home Screen as a web app works surprisingly well. Now I’ve got an Invoices “app” that shows up that shows up in Spotlight/App Switcher!

🆕📝 Quick Tip: I just saved over $100 by checking a subscription’s hidden plan options

Apps often have way more, and cheaper, subscriptions plans than what's shown to you in the app. Check the app's subscription management page in the App Store to switch to something more affordable.

😮‍💨 And with that, I’m finally caught up on my timeline from the past week or so. Much of it was bleak and not super fun to read, but also filled with lots of gems and good people. I’d best get out of bed now.

I used to be frustrated by Micro.blog’s way of doing replies — it only tags the one person whose post you’re commenting on, rather than a “reply all” like Twitter did and Mastodon does. But I’ve come all the way around on it. Now it seems rude and unnecessary to auto-tag everyone on the thread.

📺 Finished watching: A.P. Bio (Season 1) on Netflix

A man playfully biting an apple is featured, with a classroom scene in the background. Review: Good god, this show makes me laugh! Glenn Howerton is at the top of his game here, but the students really bring it home. (Team Heather 🤣) Rating: Two thumbs up.

My nature as a completionist extended tonight to the jar of ghost pepper salsa. My pride is satisfied, but my taste buds and intestines would like to have some words. 🥵

🎶 I’m obviously biased, but I can highly recommend my Heavy Rotation playlist. It’s got some real bangers in it right now! 🤘

Got out for my first run of the year (I know, I know, I’m behind!) with the floofiest buddy in his little booties. Got in 7 miles in the 0-degree temps this morning. 🥶🏃‍♂️

🎙️ Oooh thanks @ChrisLawley@mastodon.social for this Shortcuts tip! I’d wondered if you could open web apps with it somehow.

Pretty stoked to say that I’ve already booked over 20 days of my own guided trips for this year, with a bunch of day trips and some overnighters! I’ll have to tally up each month to see how much I’m doing for Onward Mtn Guides vs. other outfits. This small business thing might work out after all! 🤞

🔊 Want a no-hassle wireless surround sound setup at 50% off? I’ve got a Sonos Beam (gen 2) and two Sonos One (gen 2) speakers up for sale. You’ve got a day or so head start (and free shipping!) before they go up on eBay and Marketplace. Everything’s in great shape and sound fantastic. 🙂

📺 Finished watching: Silo (Season 2) on Apple TV+

Silhouette of a woman’s profile blending with a dramatic scene of people below, set against a blue and orange backdrop. Review: Loving this show. Folks were saying the second season was too slow, but I liked the room the let the story breathe and think S2 far outclasses S1. Compelling performances, incredible production and design, lots of twists and turns – I can’t wait to see what happens next. Rating: two thumbs up.

🍿 Watched: Fly Me to the Moon on Apple TV+

Movie poster features two main characters in front of a large moon backdrop. Text reads: Fly Me to the Moon, 2024, Greg Berlanti. Fun, but forgettable. That’s about all I have to say about that. 🚀 Rating: One thumb up.

After 12 days straight of outdoor activities (mostly work, but also personal trips), I have to confess I’m pretty stoked to have tomorrow off. This stretch has been super fun, but also super cold and exhausting. Time for some recovery and to catch up on indoor projects. 👍

Well, I’ve been ghosted by the CPA I was going to be working with. 😕 Anybody have one (licensed in New York State) that they could recommend for my small guiding business? Ideally they’d work well with me just saving a bunch of receipts into a shared folder and double-checking my QuickBooks work.

Perfect conditions made for a quick and fun jaunt up Street & Nye with Petra! ‘Twas cold, but moving fast kept us warm. That’s peaks #2 & #3 done on Petra’s ADK 46er journey.

🎵 “A Little Space” by Pentatonix is really hittin' well right now. 👌

Spaces constantly rearranging themselves on macOS is a blight, and I finally thought to check if there’s a setting. Finally, sanity. 😮‍💨

Settings window shows “Desktop & Dock” preferences on macOS, featuring toggle options for window and space management. A red arrow highlights “Automatically rearrange Spaces based on most recent use."

Today’s chilly shenanigans at @whiteface_mt. Wind chill at -16°! My 2025 map is filling in nicely!

Skiers glide down a snowy slope surrounded by snow-covered trees. In the distance, a misty mountain with winding ski trails creates a serene winter landscape.

Victoria Song: ‘Meta’s next smart glasses may be with Oakley’

The Oakley-branded glasses, internally referred to as “Supernova 2”, would be based on the brand’s Sphaera glasses. Instead of housing the cameras on the side, the Supernova 2 would shift the camera to the center of the frame.

I’m less thrilled with my Meta Ray-Bans after Meta reminded us of its true colors. But a version of smart glasses in this style frame and with better battery life to hold up against cold winter temps would be appealing to me.

There is now no major corporate-owned social media platform that is not aligned with Trump or beholden to him in some way, and nearly every American is on at least one of these platforms.

A sobering fact that I hadn’t yet recognized. Get your own website and domain. Micro.one is $1/month. Now is the time.

🧗‍♂️ Whoa, the Beal Backup Line is cheaper, thinner, and lighter than the Edelrid Rap Line Protect. It doesn’t have any dynamic qualities like the Edelrid, so I think I’m still happy with my recent rope purchase… but 1/3 lighter and physically smaller is very appealing.

Superb day at @whiteface_mt with good buddies yesterday. Started with uphill skinning in the morning and stuck around to get in some lift laps! The sunrise and clear viability was wild! 🤩 🎿
