I just put a couple of new climbing things up for sale! A Petzl Pur Line great for rappelling so you can use the full length of your climbing rope. And Escape Drytooling Picks for Petzl Tools.

A coiled climbing rope rests neatly on a multi-colored striped bedspread featuring shades of green, red, orange, blue, and yellow.

Orange climbing grips and an Allen wrench rest on a colorful, striped fabric surface. A coiled rope and a cardboard box are nearby. Text on the grip reads “ESCAPE."

Went out for a solo recon mission of Marcy and Whale’s Tale. With the howling wind and blowing snow, I was unsurprised by the empty trails. Pretty cool to put in fresh tracks both up and down the mountain!

Both trails are in great shape. Only a couple of small obstacles on Marcy Trail above Indian Falls — both easily avoidable. I turned around near Little Marcy due to whiteout, so I can’t give you beta past there! Ski trail was mega fun.

Go home, Reminders, you’re drunk. (FB16446212)

🆕📝 7 Things This Week [#169]

I've been laid out by another sickness 🤧, so your 7 things are a day late.

Harlot (2/1/25) Fat, plastic ice today! Great conditions.

A climber wearing red ascends a vertical icy cliff using a rope in a snowy forest setting with bare trees surrounding the scene. Climber ascends frozen waterfall using ropes and crampons in a snowy, forested environment surrounded by bare and evergreen trees. A climber in a red jacket ascends a large ice formation while a person below belays. Snowy trees and a winter landscape surround them. A climber scales a vertical ice formation using a rope surrounded by bare trees against a cloudy sky.

Had my first very funny Apple Intelligence notification summary today. 😆

Notification from Jo states, “Fed the hobbits a second breakfast.” It’s displayed over a rainbow-striped background, with a small profile picture and message icon beside the text.

I love the @whiteface_mt uphill program for starting the day with a great morning workout even before lifts are going! Pretty awesome to ski the mountain with wide-open runs.

Steep ice and smiles last night at Pitchoff Quarry for Thursday Night Ice Club! Thanks to everyone who came out and put in some laps. ⛏️

B-T-dubs, for anyone suffering through using a Squarespace site (🙋‍♂️) and growing ever-more frustrated by the limitations of its iPadOS app, adding it to the Home Screen as a web app works surprisingly well. Now I’ve got an Invoices “app” that shows up that shows up in Spotlight/App Switcher!

🆕📝 Quick Tip: I just saved over $100 by checking a subscription’s hidden plan options

Apps often have way more, and cheaper, subscriptions plans than what's shown to you in the app. Check the app's subscription management page in the App Store to switch to something more affordable.

😮‍💨 And with that, I’m finally caught up on my timeline from the past week or so. Much of it was bleak and not super fun to read, but also filled with lots of gems and good people. I’d best get out of bed now.

I used to be frustrated by Micro.blog’s way of doing replies — it only tags the one person whose post you’re commenting on, rather than a “reply all” like Twitter did and Mastodon does. But I’ve come all the way around on it. Now it seems rude and unnecessary to auto-tag everyone on the thread.

📺 Finished watching: A.P. Bio (Season 1) on Netflix

A man playfully biting an apple is featured, with a classroom scene in the background. Review: Good god, this show makes me laugh! Glenn Howerton is at the top of his game here, but the students really bring it home. (Team Heather 🤣) Rating: Two thumbs up.

My nature as a completionist extended tonight to the jar of ghost pepper salsa. My pride is satisfied, but my taste buds and intestines would like to have some words. 🥵

🎶 I’m obviously biased, but I can highly recommend my Heavy Rotation playlist. It’s got some real bangers in it right now! 🤘

Got out for my first run of the year (I know, I know, I’m behind!) with the floofiest buddy in his little booties. Got in 7 miles in the 0-degree temps this morning. 🥶🏃‍♂️

🎙️ Oooh thanks @ChrisLawley@mastodon.social for this Shortcuts tip! I’d wondered if you could open web apps with it somehow.

overcast.fm/+ABI6NTFM…

Pretty stoked to say that I’ve already booked over 20 days of my own guided trips for this year, with a bunch of day trips and some overnighters! I’ll have to tally up each month to see how much I’m doing for Onward Mtn Guides vs. other outfits. This small business thing might work out after all! 🤞

🔊 Want a no-hassle wireless surround sound setup at 50% off? I’ve got a Sonos Beam (gen 2) and two Sonos One (gen 2) speakers up for sale. You’ve got a day or so head start (and free shipping!) before they go up on eBay and Marketplace. Everything’s in great shape and sound fantastic. 🙂

Auto-generated description: A television is set up on a stand with gaming consoles, controllers, and small speakers, next to a decorated Christmas tree with string lights on the wall.

📺 Finished watching: Silo (Season 2) on Apple TV+

Silhouette of a woman’s profile blending with a dramatic scene of people below, set against a blue and orange backdrop. Review: Loving this show. Folks were saying the second season was too slow, but I liked the room the let the story breathe and think S2 far outclasses S1. Compelling performances, incredible production and design, lots of twists and turns – I can’t wait to see what happens next. Rating: two thumbs up.

🍿 Watched: Fly Me to the Moon on Apple TV+

Movie poster features two main characters in front of a large moon backdrop. Text reads: Fly Me to the Moon, 2024, Greg Berlanti. Fun, but forgettable. That’s about all I have to say about that. 🚀 Rating: One thumb up.

After 12 days straight of outdoor activities (mostly work, but also personal trips), I have to confess I’m pretty stoked to have tomorrow off. This stretch has been super fun, but also super cold and exhausting. Time for some recovery and to catch up on indoor projects. 👍

Well, I’ve been ghosted by the CPA I was going to be working with. 😕 Anybody have one (licensed in New York State) that they could recommend for my small guiding business? Ideally they’d work well with me just saving a bunch of receipts into a shared folder and double-checking my QuickBooks work.

Don't forget your recommended weekly dose of links!

Perfect conditions made for a quick and fun jaunt up Street & Nye with Petra! ‘Twas cold, but moving fast kept us warm. That’s peaks #2 & #3 done on Petra’s ADK 46er journey.
