Watched: Station Eleven 📺

At first, I found this series kind of hard to get into. I’m all about the post-apocalyptic series, and I liked the angle this has following the Traveling Symphony. But it didn’t click with me right away. In fact, it wasn’t until the finale that I was sure if I even liked the show. But I found myself yelling at the TV, desperately wanting resolution to some of the arcs. And my heart ached in some of the outcomes. I realized how much I’d grown invested in the story its characters. I’ll be thinking about this one a lot in the years to come, I think. 👍

Loved how Reynolds and Jackman absolutely embody their characters, loved the annihilation of the fourth wall, and even enjoyed all the ridiculous gore (there was so much that it quickly became cartoon-like). I hope we see more Deadpool and Wolverine, but if not, this was still a treat. 👍👍”

🍿 Just watched: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Impossibly high stakes, struggling with the choice of sacrificing countless unknown souls for the few that you love, getting knocked down but always getting back up — you know the drill. I wasn’t expecting how Star Wars-y the quantum realm would be, but it worked I guess. Anyway, it’s hard not to like a Paul Rudd film. Thumb-up for its rating.

I’m nearly caught up with the MCU!

🍿 Just watched: Thor: Love & Thunder

📺 As far as sci-fi “what if” series go, Dark Matter is way up there with Severence in my opinion. I’m a couple episodes from the end and simply riveted.

🍿 Just watched: Flora and Son on Apple TV+

Some parts were tough to watch. The ending resolved a little too easily. Loved the description of music throughout. Characters were overall quite believable. I liked seeing a parent nurture their kid’s interest without judgement (even if they were kind of shit at the rest of parenting). One thumb up.

🍿 Just watched: Sharper on Apple TV+

Review for Sharper (2023, directed by Benjamin Caron) movie: Hey, so it turns out this movie is pretty darn good. Great acting, compelling characters, intriguing storyline. Had no idea it was an A24 film until I gave it a shot tonight. Perfect? No. But if you like twists and turns, this one’s for you. Loved it!

📺 Finished watching: Sugar (2024) on Apple TV+

Goodness, Colin Farrell nailed his role here. Enthralling from start to end. And the twists kept things interesting. Great addition to the ATV+ lineup, and I’m hoping for a second season.

📺 I finally finished season 4 of For All Mankind and, oh boy, that finale had me sweating. Lots of things are going to be different in season 5, I’m sure. I didn’t connect as much with S4, but still great television. (By the way, watching it on a massive screen with Vision Pro was pretty sweet.)

📺 So happy for the triumphant return of Trying on Apple TV+. It’s one of my all-time favorite shows, and season 4’s opening schtick was superb. Can’t wait to see how the rest of the season goes.

📺 Finished watching: Foundation (seasons 1 and 2) on Apple TV+

Game of Thrones meets centuries-spanning space opera. I dig it! Is it perfect? Nope. But it sure is entertaining and I’m more invested in the storylines (silly though some are) with every episode. Can’t wait to see how it evolves.

Of the two storylines, the one in the past was more compelling, but still never felt cohesive. And don’t get me started on the present day characters — I didn’t like any of them. I’m not usually such a down on shows, but man. At least the monsters looked cool."

It’s a far cry from The Dark Knight or Inception, but boy does Nolan know how to make a movie. I was riveted through the whole three-hour trial-that-wasn’t-a-trial.

I’m continually amazed by what humans can make, and what they can do to each other.

While watching the first episode of The Afterparty Season 2, I was a little worried that it had lost its mojo. The setup seemed a bit ham-fisted, and I didn’t connect with any of the characters. But the second episode was an absolute delight. Really looking forward to the reset of the season now! 📺

Well, Ted Lesso ended very well. It was a brilliant show with many flaws, but it was always something special.

I’m here for it if it continues on in another form, but if not, that’s fine too. It’s been a special show.

I’d love there to be another story brewing, but I’m so glad that they got to tell the story that they wanted to. 📺
