Congrats to @manton for shipping Micro.one! It turned out to be more full-featured than I expected, which is to say it’s most of Micro.blog at just $1/month. With most blogging platforms starting at around $4/month and offering much less, Micro.one is quite the deal.

For those confused, it’s helping me to just think of Micro.one as the new entry-level tier of Micro.blog and not a different product despite its new branding. You get a blog (and all the usual plug-ins and theme customization options), Fediverse-compatibility, bookmarks, and podcast hosting for $1 a month. The “standard” tier adds cross-posting, private notes, and (I think?) single-page sites. And the “premium” tier gets you video hosting, additional blogs, bookmark highlights and archives, and email newsletters. It’s quite the spread, and you get so much for just $1/month.
@jarrod It confused me as the new site had the same pricing as the .blog site originally, makes more sense now though. Still confusing though - as you say, I think a new tier would have been a better way to go. The intro video that Manton made kinda proves this as he seems to muddle .one and .blog on multiple occasions. It's made a confusing product more confusing, but if one can wrap their head around it, it's a great deal.
@kev I suppose that could have been said about Micro.blog in general for a long time. Somewhat confusing, but a great deal if you can wrap your head around it!
I wonder if just adding a new tier to the existing micro.blog would have been better from a marketing positioning POV?
@numericcitizen Maybe! But Manton said part of the goal is a marketing reset, so hopefully that works out well for him.
