Got in a bunch of rope work practice yesterday! Did my first rope solo on rock(!), rappelled using saddlebags method, and tried out hauling using a 3:1 pulley system. Success on all fronts! Practice makes better. 📷

Felt a bit off today, but that didn’t stop me from onsighting ‘Bozeman Bullet’ (5.6). It’s so good, can’t wait to climb it again! (Also flashed ‘Space Cowboy’ (5.7), but no pics.) 📹
The Macalope: If sideloading is allowed in iOS 17, someone will pay for it—and it won’t be Apple
Now, before you get all excited or hot and bothered or relentlessly stung by bees, remember that this is Apple we’re talking about here. The company has a strict policy of giving a millimeter when regulators legally mandate an inch.
😂
As far as I can remember, this is the first time I’ve been able to pay for and download an app directly from the banner on its website, rather than being sent over to the App Store first. Is this new? (Extension is Magic Highlighter, found via Daring Fireball)
📺 Finished watching: The Last of Us (2023) on HBO, created by Craig Mazin & Neil Druckmann ★★★★
I don’t always get on board with the latest popular TV crazes, but this one definitely held up. I appreciated that while you certainly felt on edge for every episode, there weren’t as many jump and zombie scares as there could have been. I loved seeing the trust grow between Ellie and Joel, and how they helped each other become less broken over time — even while having to do horrific things.
And, yes, the ending is quite shocking.
The new Apple Store in Mumbai looks incredible. The lattice ceiling in particular is gorgeous. But I want to say that having a stand-alone Apple logo inside the store is a rarity, yes? Paging Apple Retail expert @michaelsteeber@mastodon.social.
Say you booked an adventure trip like hiking or rock climbing. Would you prefer to be referred to as a “client” or a “guest”?
I’ve always gravitated toward “client” but I’m reconsidering as “guest” conveys more fun and less formality. Also, it seems more like I’m welcoming them into the experience, rather than going over paperwork in an office. Thoughts?

Said this in a group chat tonight, but it bears repeating for anyone who hasn’t taken a look yet:
Many of my favorite shows over the last 4 years have been on Apple TV+. (Trying, Ted Lasso, Shrinking, Severance, Dickinson, For All Mankind, Mythic Quest, Afterparty, Acapulco…I could go on). It’s where I look first for new stuff to watch because of their stellar track record, and I don’t need to wade through a bunch of shit to find the gold. And still I can’t keep up with everything they’re putting out.
This is going to be a game-changer! Making a playlist means not only can I enjoy continuous play instead of swapping back and forth between YouTube and Play, but a playlist can also be downloaded to a device for offline watching. Kudos to @mactanaka@mastodon.social for pulling this off!
