Oh damn, I just realized that you can swipe between stages in iPadOS Stage Manager using the 4-finger swipe gesture. It’s just like swiping between full-screen apps and it might have just gotten Stage Manger to click for me.

Is anyone not thinking that the new DockKit framework for iOS 17 is a major hint toward Apple’s smart home product goals? I’d put money down that a motorized stand will come sooner rather than later from Apple, hopefully for both iPhone and iPad.

Godammit. 😞 This was a huge part of why I went with a Kobo. An opportunity for Readwise to expand their Kobo integration to include Reader? But probably not.

Kobo ebook readers will be losing their ability to read web articles saved to the Pocket read-later service later this summer. Though Pocket integration has been available on Kobo devices for years, the functionality will stop working after August 15th, 2023, when Pocket will require all of its users to transition to Firefox accounts to log in.

Yup, MKBHD’s video has convinced me that I want an iPhone/iPad version of the Pixel Fold. 👍

It’s kinda fun how quickly an idea can go from just a spark to being published on the World Wide Web. Here’s a fresh list of some things that I’ve been waiting for… https://heydingus.net/lists/days-waiting

Did I miss the Mac Pro reviews? I don’t think I saw any alongside the 15” Air and Mac Studio ones dropping. But here we are, after they’re available for customers to buy.

I don’t feel like it gets said enough anymore, so I’ll say it: Apple got so much right with the foundation of macOS and its UI is a joy to use to this day. I can have so much going on at once and never feel overwhelmed because of the myriad of ways to jump between apps. </appreciation>

New Bluesky, who dis? (Thanks @maique!) I’m @heyjarrod.net over there, but don’t get too excited. I’ll probably just be cross-posting from Micro.blog tbh.

If I’m being honest, the inverted-T-arrows keyboard was a sideshow to the more significant keyboard issues that people identified the last few years. I think Apple overcorrected and full-sized left & right arrow keys would’ve achieved the visual symmetry they wanted without significant compromise.

🆕📝 Oh, Hey, My Mastodon Followers Have Surpassed Twitter Ones

A Chinese buffet restaurant reopened in our town this weekend and it brought me right back to being a kid and having the ability to shovel endless plates of delicious cuisine down my gullet. I can’t consume quite that much anymore, but I do still love me a good buffet. 🥢

Hey @viticci@mastodon.macstories.net and @johnvoorhees@mastodon.macstories.net, I’m putting together a Shortcuts library on my site and wondered if you’d mind if I reused some wording from the MacStories Shortcuts Archive? It’s been a huge inspiration, and I liked how you did the intro/legalese.

Uhh…just checked in on Reddark and over half of the subreddits have now gone private in protest of Reddit’s API decisions. This got way bigger than I expected and I’m very curious about how (if?) Reddit will respond.

Whoa, imagine a modern operating system update coming in under 30 MB. A majority of my apps have bigger file sizes than this.

🆕📝 7 Things This Week [#98]

I realized today that because the Vision Pro lacks hot-swapping the battery pack for longer sessions, the best way to keep using it beyond 2 hours and not be tethered to the wall will likely be a battery pack for the battery pack. I LOL’d.
