Had some great runs today on a ghost town of a mountain. Finally skied from the Whiteface summit, and tested out a pair of DPS Wailers. Pretty surfy skis for the wet and compacted conditions, but still so much fun. Btw, you gotta check out the Slopes app

I resented the time change and its early darkness because it stole from my outdoor adventuring time. But I’m starting to appreciate the time it’s given back to me to focus on other projects, like jumping back into writing and coding. 📝
It’s too bad that the tool and community that so many of us loved has had to suffer to teach someone a very expensive lesson about the consequences of trolling.
Isn’t it funny that one of Jack’s final initiatives was to build a decentralized Twitter (Bluesky) and although he stepped aside, it seems that goal has been achieved in the form of Mastodon? It, and by extension ActivityPub, will take the helm as the decentralized social network that was foretold.

I heard from our delivery worker that Tuesday was the busiest day in UPS history. Most packages delivered ever. And we’re not yet into the thick of the holiday season, it was all just from Black Friday sales. 🤯 Impending recession or not, we’re still buying ever more stuff.
I changed a bike tire today! Well, two of them, to be precise. You’d think that since I’ve been working in a bike shop for over 8 months, that wouldn’t be significant, but nope, today was my first ever! Getting the bike ready for winter rollers training. 💪 🚴♂️
Jo is taking a big test this morning to advance her care for patients and be able to do more care on her own without supervision. She’s learned so much from UH Trauma and the last 6 months here in Saranac Lake Emergency that she’s been able to take it way ahead of most PAs. I’m so proud of my bad-ass wife, and hope you’ll join me in wishing her good luck! 📷
