Andrew Liszewski, theverge.com:
Dell’s new 32-inch 4K OLED display uses an infrared sensor and five speakers located below the screen to track your head and beam sound directly to your ears. The feature eliminates the need to keep your head positioned in a sweet spot for optimal sound, and it could be ideal for gamers who are constantly moving around in the heat of battle. The monitor also features a 120Hz refresh rate, a 0.03ms response time, and will launch in the US on May 22nd, 2025, for $799.99.
Now that’s some cool, human-centered tech!
This also looks pretty [ahem] handy if you’re a frequent phone photographer:
Shoutout to The Verge’s Wes Davis who found a link for the Belkin’s PowerGrip post, even though it’s not available on Belkin’s website. He used a highlight link to point to the relevant portion of a Business Wire press release. 🙌
@pratik Oh boy, that stinks. My MagSafe stuff usually holds on pretty well, but it remains to be seen what quality Belkin will bring.
@pratik I have the Fjorden grip. It connects physically to a case and is solid. I like the controls but it’s probably overkill for most folks. I bought it specifically for street and travel photography. Sometimes it’s nice not to have a camera hanging around your neck.
@ddykstal I had never seen the Fjorden Grip — too bad I missed the holidays for that. Looks really cool. Also interesting that Leica bought them!
@pratik It sort of works with the Camera app. The grip has 4 controls, shutter, zoom, exposure, and a function button I use to switch between normal and portrait modes. Only the shutter control works with the Camera app. The Fjorden app is pretty decent and is my goto app when I have the grip attached which is almost all the time. I also have ProCamera which works with the grip as expected, but the function button separately programmable. I have it set up for “anti-shake”.
I have to take the grip off at night so I can charge the phone. The Fjorden case is black and built for the grip and is magsafe so it works well with magsafe chargers.
If you like bling this is not your setup. :)
@jthingelstad I received it just before Thanksgiving but had to wait quite a while for it to ship – several months.
