I just updated my ‘🤣 Markdown Memes’ shortcut to version 1.1:
- Swapped ‘Micro.blog Multimedia Uploader’ shortcut for ‘Simple MB Image Uploader’ so there would be fewer menus and interactions to get through
- Added an opportunity to edit the Markdown’s alt text before it’s saved
- Clarified some menu text
Get it for free from the HeyDingus Shortcuts Library.
And here’s a blog post I wrote about how it all came together, including the auto-sorting list that I’m rather proud of. 😁
how do you get around the unstable editing experience of the Shortcuts app?
@numericcitizen Around? Oh no, my friend, there is no around, only through. I get through it with patient like a very elastic rubber band stretches and stretches until…
@numericcitizen More practically, I do a lot of double-checks, I quit and reopen the app when it’s particularly laggy, and sometimes I just have to throw my hands up in the air when sync conflicts and disappearing import questions and variables are unavoidable.
that is sad that Apple is shipping this. It’s been quite a while and the experience seems to deteriorate with each release.
@numericcitizen For sure. I’m foolishly optimistic that they’ve been working on a souped up AI-version for the next OS release and that they’re doing a big cleanup along the way…but we’ll see.
do you think Apple should add a “text” version to Shortcuts, like for AppleScript?
@numericcitizen Hmm. Probably not. Since AppleScript already works in Shortcuts, I think that’s enough. I don’t think adding another automation language for them to maintain will help with it getting the attention it needs.
