@jeannie Absolutely! That’s a great idea.
@maique 🙌
I’m sorry @lexfri that it happened to you, but your situation was the push I needed to solidify this this thought and get it out of my head.
@jarrod a good idea.
https://lexfriedman.com/intermittent.rss is a start.
But my real concern is people keep signing up for my Substack even though it says pretty explicitly *go to the new place* instead. I think next I have to parse this RSS feed on my own site. Then update every Substack post with a big note at the top that says go here. Then if I ever leave Buttondown, I am still hosting/publishing on my own site.
@lexfri Subscribed! 🙌
Ah, yeah that’s tough. I don’t suppose it’s in Substack’s interest for them to allow you to close off subscriptions or kill the RSS feed while you host an “I’ve moved” sign on their site.
That sounds like a reasonable, if tedious, solution. Good luck!
@gr36 Hmm. Not something I’d considered, thanks. It’s worked in my (limited) testing, but something to watch out for, I s’pose.
@jarrod This was such a good post, man, thanks a lot. I managed to include my first redirect in my Mastodon profile and I’m so happy. Thank you!
@jarrod and now I just went overboard 😅😅. https://umerez.eu/follow/
Thank you!
@eumrz Aw yeah! 🙌 Thanks!
