Enjoying the new Play 2.0 but need a way to move over your channel subs? I just released my ‘Follow List of Channels in Play’ shortcut version 1.0 to do just that!
The shortcut helps you follow a channel in the Play app by allowing you to send a YouTube channel’s URL, or list of URLs, to it.
But its best use is to copy all your YouTube subscriptions over at once. Just selext the whole list of your channel subs in YouTube, copy the text, and then run this shortcut. It will extract the channel URLs and follow them one-by-one in Play.
Get it here from the HeyDingus Shortcuts Library.
@jarrod great idea! what exactly do you mean by select the whole list of your channel subs in YouTube? on the page it shows my subscriptions, but no urls?
@flohgro It’s probably best done on macOS and from the YouTube website since it’s easiest to select all the text on your subscriptions page there (cmd-A). Once you’ve copied that text, run the shortcut and it should pull out the channel URLs from the clipboard and work from there. (Demo video) But if you run into any other issues, please let me know!
@jarrod thanks for the video! I was doing it correctly but have an issue with cookie preferences on the Mac 🤷🏼♂️ I copied the channel-urls to Drafts, copied them on the iPad and then re-ran your shortcut - worked like charm 🙌🏽
@flohgro Sweet! Good workaround!
@jarrod I never added a channel from my Mac to Play, that was the issue @mactanaka replied very quickly to my issue 🙌🏽
