I just released my ‘Publish Quote’ shortcut version 1.0:
This shortcut provides a quick and easy way to publish a quote from a Safari webpage, with or without commentary, to Micro.blog. Just select the text you want to quote, hit the share button in the toolbar, and run this shortcut. It’ll even send a Webmention if you add your own comment.
Learn more, see it in action, and get it here from the HeyDingus Shortcuts Library.
Thanks @gr36!
@maique It was struggling on my end too for a minute there, but seems to be loading now. Hope it works for you too! 🤞
@maique ☺️ Thanks!
I’m excited by this. I think I had some old method that relied upon Drafts, but this looks way better!
I’m having some trouble, Jarrod. The selected text is not being copied into the shortcut. See the result here. And here’s the text I’m trying to quote.
@maique I think, being a dingus, I forgot to actually link the shortcut when I published. 🙈 But I fixed that as I was troubleshooting the site loading and it sounds like you’ve got it going now. So glad you like it!
@canion Drafts is my workhorse for publishing original stuff, but I’ve found the shortcut to have less friction. And who doesn’t like multiple methods? 🤷♂️
@eumrz That seems very strange, sorry about the failure. Here’s what happens when I try to recreate your post. Are you choosing the ‘Publish Quote’ shortcut from the share button on the toolbar, not from the text popup menu when you select text? And what do you get from the preview before posting? Does it look right there before being sent to MB?
I’m trying both (share button on the toolbar and “Share” popup menu) and both give me the same result. It does not look right in the preview/character count. The quote is missing the too (head scratching emoji).
@eumrz That’s so strange! It’s made to work from the toolbar, since the popup wouldn’t pass the page’s link in, just the text. Could you do a screen recording and send it to jarrod@heydingus.net? I’d be happy to try to troubleshoot it further. Maybe try redownloading the shortcuts first though. It’s possible an action got deleted by mistake. I do that sometimes and it wreaks havoc.
Thanks a lot. I just sent you the screen recording. First I redownloaded all three shortcuts, the problem is still happening. I’m so sorry to bother you.
@eumrz No bother at all. I want to make sure it’s working correctly. I’ll take a look! 🙂
@pimoore Thanks buddy!
