I hadn’t really expected Phil to reply to my post. I’m thrilled he did, and it’s been kinda fun to see the other responses trickle in — even one from Walt Mossberg! My watch has been buzzing nonstop with likes and reposts. It’s a very different experience than what I usually get here on Micro.blog.

I almost wish the interaction had happened here where I’d have been shielded from the distraction and ego inflation. While it is kind of neat to see so many people be interested in one of my silly posts, it’s also been a good reminder that I prefer the measured calm of Micro.blog’s social media approach. 😅
That’s cool! It will be interesting to see how this feels if and when Threads federates, and the replies potentially come in directly to Micro.blog.
@manton I can’t wait! The replies certainly haven’t been overwhelming, just the likes that have poured in. (Relative, of course. It’s only a couple hundred, but I don’t recall ever having something get that kind of attention.)
I’m curious about the transition. What fraction of people who follow my account over there will jump over to this one, the one I’ll keep. I suppose it doesn’t really matter since I won’t see follow counts or notifications for that stuff anyway. This is the way. 🙂
there’s been a serious uptick in traffic to Threads and even Instagram. but I do like playing over here more.
I too hope they federate but it feels like waiting for Apple to release RCS on iMessage and interconnect with Google. Also still waiting for Tumblr too.
Once bitten and twice shy.
@starrwulfe I have high hopes for Threads following through. Just today I was reminded that they’ve got this message linked on every single profile page:
@jarrod That is so cool! Not sure what I’d do if I looked at my watch and saw a notification from him. 😳
@jarrod I didn’t even realize you were just on microblog, I see your stuff through mastodon and that’s where it blew up for me
I think a lot is going to depend on whether Meta allows existing Threads accounts to easily migrate followers to other platforms.
@matthewcassinelli Ha! See, I was blissfully unaware if it gained any traction on Mastodon/Micro.blog. I flubbed the @-mention and photo attachment and kind of wrote it off. 😅
@manton My guess is that they won’t. I figure I’ll have to just make a final post saying “Follow me at
@jarrod@micro.blog
” before deactivating my Threads account. (Or hopefully@jarrod@heydingus.net
if transitioning to that username is more robust by then 😉)🤞🏾🤞🏾 I’m hoping they drop this bomb as a sweet federated Christmas/New Year present.
@starrwulfe 🎁 That would be a welcome gift!
