Finished reading: Cirque Du Freak #11: Lord of the Shadows by Darren Shan 📚 ★★★☆

I expected more out of this book, which really only boiled down to three or four pivotal scenes. And it seemed like Darren was avoiding responsibility for many of his actions, which grew tiresome. Too much of, “I wanted to do this, but this part of me wouldn’t let me do it.”

It’s saving grace was the big reveal at the end, and refusal to shy away from heinous acts in what could have ostensibly be considered a children’s book.

(By the way, I think I’m simplifying to a three star rating system.)

There are two types of people in this world: Those who delete trailing spaces, and those who do not. (Perhaps there’s a third who don’t know what a trailing space is.) (Also, those who say ‘delete’ to describe removing a previously typed character, and those who say ‘backspace’.)

This seems like an awful waste of space now, doesn’t it?

I’m digging this sunny disposition kicking off my January. Thanks @ismh! 📷

Cherries might be the best fruit.

Did my first ice climb in years today and was surprised by how smooth and solid I felt. Feeling good. 🙂

These slippers have spent three years on my wish list. They were were worth the wait. Thanks @gruber and Merlin!

Gray slippers on feet.

Jo and I were silly and didn’t take any pictures together for our Christmas yesterday, so here’s a shot off our timelapse of opening gifts instead. 😅 ‘Twas a perfect day of love, games, good food, and snuggles. Happy holidays to y’all out there! 🎄 📷

This has had to have been the most active Christmas I’ve ever spent! Hope everyone out there had as much fun as I did today!

Map of Christmas run. Map of Christmas Nordic ski.

Spinning out in the middle of an icy, hilly road: two thumbs down, would not recommend. 👎👎 But no incident and got home safely. Be careful out there, y’all.

Enjoyed a beautiful day out Nordic skiing with a beautiful lady! ⛷️ 📷

Crossed 200 miles run for the year! 🥳 Next stop, 217 miles and 50 runs which would be a new annual record. 🏃‍♂️

Tempo run stats over 200 miles.

Tried out a few new runs yesterday. Confidence is gaining!

Slopes stats with 10 runs and 17,000 ft of downhill.

Tis the season to clear out old stuff to make room for new stuff! I’ve got some things for sale: a couple of Apple Watches, a Roomba i6, and winter boots! All great quality, except for one watch has a cracked screen (makes a good night watch).

What’s one question you could ask to know if someone is on your level? For me, it’s “Do you write in Markdown?”

So thrilled with all this snow! ❄️

Here’s @siracusa@mastodon.social and Dan Benjamin talking 10 years ago about iPhone 5’s new lightning connector… I have bad news… overcast.fm/+3EXptJOd…

Had a pleasant run tonight through holiday lights with the nicest group in Lake Placid, the ADK Run Club. Followed by beer, cookies, and fellowship – I look forward to every Tuesday.

With so much interest and excitement around Mastodon clients coming from superb longtime developers, I wonder if @manton and team will reconsider Micro.blog compatibility?

Will third -party Mastodon clients work with Micro. blog?
Not currently. We might consider this later, but because of the UI differences, it’s better to have third-party apps designed for either Micro.blog or IndieWeb standards.

For Micro Monday, I recommend checking out @gr36. He’s writing about, well, writing. But also small insights into his life, classic of personal blogs that I’ve gravitated toward lately. He’s also sharing handy tools for micro.blog itself.

Okay, this is pretty wild. Apparently macOS remains completely usable with Sidecar, even when in the iPadOS app switcher UI! Smallest Mac screen you’ve ever seen?

Release the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID in black/silver without the numeric pad, you cowards!

I’ve enjoyed short naps most afternoons this week. Gets me feeling refreshed for the evening. Then, of course, I’m up till 4 AM…so there’s that.

I’m so tired of fighting Pocket to display my name as the author of my posts. I’ve tried meta tags, rel=“me” links, everything. Right now, it thinks “good ol' email” is the author because I have that phrase linked to a mailto: address. 🤦‍♂️
