Whoa, imagine a modern operating system update coming in under 30 MB. A majority of my apps have bigger file sizes than this.

Here we go again… 🏡 😬
I realized today that because the Vision Pro lacks hot-swapping the battery pack for longer sessions, the best way to keep using it beyond 2 hours and not be tethered to the wall will likely be a battery pack for the battery pack. I LOL’d.
I competed in my first-ever organized trail run race today (and first organized race in many years). I had a ton of fun! Finished with a better time than expected, felt better while racing (the key: hydrate yesterday), and took 6th in my age group. Can’t wait till next year! 🏃♂️
It strikes me that Facebook changed their company name to Meta to tell the world they were committed to AR/VR as the future. Apple silently toiled away investing in a product so compelling and advanced that it has universally flabbergasted demonstratees to show how deadly serious they are about it.
It just occurred to me that because the Vision Pro battery pack is a separate part, the battery life could get better as battery technology improves and newer, bigger packs are released. Good call, Apple.
Just don’t call Apple’s journey to their AR headset a Vision Quest.
It must suck to be a kid in Florida these days. The bills that are becoming law are sickening. I fear the state will have a big problem down the road when even fewer young people choose to live there and its already-elderly population dies out. But I s’pose it’s always going to be a snowbird refuge.
Do you, like me, like leaving your key behind when hiking or biking so you don’t lose it? This handy video shows how to set up the PIN unlock on a newer Subaru (mine’s a 2020) so you don’t have to leave the key outside somewhere. Tip: hold down the lock button the fob first, then the trunk button.
Whoa! It looks like Keynote for visionOS will let you practice your presentation as if you’re on stage at the Steve Jobs Theater. (Link via @rafa@mastodon.design)
Boy, it would be cool for Mike Rockwell to be a guest for @gruber@mastodon.social’s live Talk Show. 🤞
“This is the future of desktop computing.” Whoa. Ben is not mincing words here. That was the same feeling I got while watching the intro, and I’m thrilled to hear that’s coming across in the brief demos, too. ⏯️
Ben has a ton of experience with using VR setups for real work, and @gruber@mastodon.social is notoriously picky. Both approach things with a healthy amount of skepticism, so I was very much looking forward to their hands-on impressions. So far it sounds pretty pretty good! ⏯️
